South Haven Family Vacation Scoop + Quick Guide!

It was my in-laws 60th anniversary and we're the ones who got a big present! An entire week in this artsy home in the cozy little town of South Haven in the Great Lakes of Michigan. Prior to going all I had were the pictures of the house sent by my mother-in-law. According to the description it was a "100' of private beach, artist's house on lake with sunset views" and that does not do justice to the sunset views!! With this post I hope to bring to you a little bit of our exciting summer trip and perhaps entice you to pay a visit to this family friendly and inviting part of the Great Lakes - so close to Indy! This is the home of Wendy Anderson Halperin  who's an acclaimed South Haven illustrator and…

Boho Chic

Last week I took a trip to Chicago for a work related training. I have to say I LOVE this kind of trips, they are short and sweet. Enough to get us out of the everyday routine and obviously if you know me, it's a huge opportunity to shop! Let's just say that Indy doesn't offer a wide range of options when it comes to shopping so I'm thrilled when I get to go elsewhere. As a quick note we stayed at the Renaissance Blackstone and coincidentally enough I had stayed at the very same hotel a few years ago when I took a trip up there to meet SJP with Kris, my bff. Yes!!! If you haven't checked that post click HERE and watch the video HERE. Upon arriving, my work partner Tammy…

Miami Series: Wynwood Walls

One of the oh-so-talked-about places you must visit while in Miami is the hip and cool artsy neighboorhood Wynwood Art District. "The Wynwood Walls has brought the world's greatest artists working in the graffiti and street art genre to Miami." Very impressive and the feel of coolness lingers in the air....hip little shops, cafés and boutiques made our morning that much more intellectually fun! One wall is cooler than the other, and they all tell a story... (more…)

Miami Series: Key Biscayne – The Ritz Carlton

Katie, a friend who used to work with me says The Ritz Carlton is LIFE and the rest is just the rest...I guess I couldn't have found better words to describe the ultimate luxury of TRC hotels. I first heard of the chain back in the 90's when dad along with mom won a trip to the US along with a group for best sales performers of the year through 3M Brazil (where he retired from). Well guess what? 3M put them all at the TRC in different states and boy they came back home with every little token imaginable, we had Ritz Carlton mini soaps, shampoos, body creams and shower caps for months...silly? Well not when you have not seen anything like it! Years later we visited TRC in Beaver Creek, CO - to…

Miami Series: South Pointe Park

Next in line for our Miami visit is South Pointe Park, a place right across Fisher Island (a very exclusive private island with condos). After a day in SB we headed there to eat the famous cobb salad and have some wine, what happened however was that we weren't expecting it to be happy hour  on a Friday night...the place was crowded!! The good part though is that it was crowded with beautiful people so we got ourselves a corner table, had dinner and our wine and people watched for a couple hours! I'm in love with this Forever 21 cropped top, super cute, trendy and easy on the pocket!! - Option 1; Option2; Option 3; Givenchy Sunnies; Miranda Frye Jewelry and Rag and Bone cut offs. Laughs, good wine and good food...better than…

An Itsy Bitsy Vacay

**This post was initially drafted a month ago and sat here waiting for editings....that basically never came, but before we say so long farewell to summer times I need to register this moment in here!! A Reske vacay w momma Sasa and Dinda used to only happen in Brazil but hey, not anymore!** It felt like forever since I had four days off in a row. Working full time and having two days off a week (like most full time workers) has been my pace lately. I kinda forgot how it feels like to actually get some rest since days off for a mom mean doing laundry, cleaning rooms, and going grocery shopping to say the least. So when I was granted my request for those days hubs quickly suggested a weekend in Michigan…

Talk Derby to Me!

Hey guys what an awesome experience I had last Saturday. I was able to attend the world famous Kantucky Derby and boy oh boy such a fabulous place to be! I've never seen so many dressed up men in one venue here in America...and I'm not talking just formal, I'm talking seer sucker suits, pastel bow ties and fedora hats my friends!!! Some men wore bright shirts and ties coordinating with their girl outfits, it was nothing but a pure bliss of inspiration all day long. Needless to say the women rocked, party and summer dresses were the majority. Some wore separates Chanel style skirt suits in a very fashionable way and obviously the fascinators and big brimmed hats stole the scene! That being said I couldn't start this post without a close up…

Indy Star meets Fountain Square

What an amazing weekend this was! Easter combined with the Cover of the living section of The Indianapolis Star...couldn't have been more perfect!!! When I found out our "Blogger Feature" would be out in The Star on  Easter Sunday it made me feel extra blessed and happy.   Imagine my face when I saw this!!!! I did the happy dance in my kitchen for about 5 minutes, including jumps in between and called the kids: Look guys mommy is in the paper! Sophia goes: Hahaha what's that picture on the side??? (the drink local coffee one...like they looked at my picture for a second and a half before moving on) Well at least hubs and my friends were happy for me! If you haven't checked the whole article written by Leslie Bailey and photographed…

Chicago Trip to see SJP aka Carrie Bradshaw

First of all I need to say a big thanks to two people who sort of made or helped make this happen for me, one is my dear friend Zoraida who unfortunately wasn't able to come along to Chicago with us but was the person who alerted me about SJP's shoe tour in which I had absolutely no idea was happening (go figure since I work most days on my computer, really Karina?!) and the other is my BFF who tagged along, shared a hotel in cold Chicago with me just so we could see my idol, mind you we had no idea we were going to be able to even get a glimpse of her, but as a good friend, there she went...ah and did I mention she had to hold the camera…

O Rio De Janeiro continua lindo….. (Rio post)

This (the title) is a very famous start of a popular song by Gilberto Gil that celebrates the beauty of the "Marvelous City" as Rio is known since 1935 when yet another song (better yet, a march) was written for the carnival. Both songs have since become some sort of Anthem of the city of Rio de Janeiro. In case this is your first time visiting my blog, you probably don't know that I'm from São Paulo which is a quick 35 minute plane ride to Rio, but I adore Rio and it's natural beauty. People are more relaxed and tanned than my peeps back in Sampa, you have the beach and the city life right at the same time. But I do want to add the NOBODY dresses better than the Paulistanos (that's…
