Chicago Trip to see SJP aka Carrie Bradshaw

First of all I need to say a big thanks to two people who sort of made or helped make this happen for me, one is my dear friend Zoraida who unfortunately wasn't able to come along to Chicago with us but was the person who alerted me about SJP's shoe tour in which I had absolutely no idea was happening (go figure since I work most days on my computer, really Karina?!) and the other is my BFF who tagged along, shared a hotel in cold Chicago with me just so we could see my idol, mind you we had no idea we were going to be able to even get a glimpse of her, but as a good friend, there she went...ah and did I mention she had to hold the camera…

O Rio De Janeiro continua lindo….. (Rio post)

This (the title) is a very famous start of a popular song by Gilberto Gil that celebrates the beauty of the "Marvelous City" as Rio is known since 1935 when yet another song (better yet, a march) was written for the carnival. Both songs have since become some sort of Anthem of the city of Rio de Janeiro. In case this is your first time visiting my blog, you probably don't know that I'm from São Paulo which is a quick 35 minute plane ride to Rio, but I adore Rio and it's natural beauty. People are more relaxed and tanned than my peeps back in Sampa, you have the beach and the city life right at the same time. But I do want to add the NOBODY dresses better than the Paulistanos (that's…

Farewell in Chicago

[caption id="attachment_2752" align="alignnone" width="640"] Kris, me and Gabi at the Millennium Park[/caption] Chicago is a place I've been time and again and it never gets old, except I mainly stroll down the Magnificent Mile almost every single time I go there, so one might say I never really experienced Chicago to it's fullest. We came together as a group of four girls, my sister Gabi who was leaving to go back to Brazil, my BFF Kris and our Polish friend Ewelina who was also celebrating her B-Day and booked a room in Chi-town, this time around though we decided to do sight seeing (if you can call it that) and touristic-y things. Kris has done all the touristic things before and was basically our tour guide, so she suggested we rented bikes to ride…

Style Travels: New Buffalo City Beach – Michigan

Hello lovelies! I happen to have a whole lot of news starting with the latest and probably the sweetest, I accepted a job offer at Saks Fifth Avenue again and am currently organizing myself to get back to work and make my old clients happy and obviously I'm looking forward to meet new ones ;) Another piece of news is that I have invested a lot on the blog and that's why I haven't been able to work much in here lately, it's hosted now by a more efficient site and that means faster and friendlier ways of leaving comments and even an easier way to subscribe to the blog. I'm really excited about this! So please take the time to subscribe, it helps me A LOT!!!! In the mean time I have family…

Photoshoot Series: Vail – an Experience (Vail Lionshead Village)

** Quick apology for next week's mess up, I'm still trying to recover my domain and my traffic. Please help me spread the word that you need to add blogspot after karinastylediaries for now, thank you for your patience** Back to Blitz for the last change and we take the in-town bus for a five minute ride towards the Lionshead Village, where it used to be the "not so pretty part of the town" back 10 years ago when Brian and I moved there after getting married. But boy was I surprised when we went back last year, it is now the most beautiful and charming cozy village. The buildings became more and more European inspired, Italian gelatterias, and coffee shops with little outdoor tables. The buildings are colorful and full of style, a…

Photoshoot Series: Vail – an Experience (Solaris)

Change of outfit and a few shots at Blitz boutique, where I used to work and where I was doing my changes of clothing with the girls, we head to the Solaris building, a newer luxurious lodge with hotel amenities in town where it hosts a series of art galleries, the highly rated Japanese restaurant in town the Matsuhisa, beautiful and extravagant boutiques, our favorite coffee shop the Yetis (which is the same vibe and friendliness from the employees as a Trader Joe's here, so you can compare) and an ice skating ring. Rent a residence at the Solaris "for $785-$7,000 per night. The restaurants are usually full—you need to book reservations at Matsuhisa a month in advance—gradually shifting the dining and partying scene from Bridge Street (the area of Vail Village where most…

Photoshoot Series: Vail – an Experience! (Bridge Street)

We're back in Indy and settled (well, sort of) and brought back with us a whole lot of memories and fantastic scenery that will stay with us forever. I have to say that our experience in Vail made us stronger as a family and through the ups and downs of being away from home and friends and the rest of the family we grew, and hopefully we'll not take what we have from granted anymore, or at least not as much! Before we left I wanted to shoot pictures and combine the blog, my passion for fashion, and the beauty of that little town, so international, so welcoming and so very beautiful! Vail is one of the Oldest ski areas of the great United States and one of the largest in the world. It…

KarinaStyleTravels: NYC – March 2013 (DAY 2)

So there we were waking up to a late start, as if losing 5 hours (due to my flight delay) was not enough, I also picked the weekend of the time change and lost yet another precious hour :/ so not happy about that...but I had no time to be unhappy about anything, or tired, or cranky, I had only a day left to enjoy myself, my friends and the city! First stop off the subway was the famous NY fashion week spot Bryant Park, and even though the trees were bare it only added to the beauty of the place and its surrounding buildings, such as the black and gold one that I love! Beautiful sunny Sunday morning at the Bryant Park As we head to our destination we pass the New York…

KarinaStyleTravels: NYC – March 2013 (DAY 1)

Yes I guess it's getting old, I know you might be sick of hearing me going on and on about how much I LOVE the Big Apple, but I can't help myself especially having a girlfriend living there now...I find just about any excuse I can to visit!!!! NYC's View from the Top! Never gets old.... This time my little excuse was a fine Stella and Dot trunk show and it turned out Sunday is not the best day to have one as far as attendance goes but hey, we had a great time (I might have had a bit too much wine - so not professional) but I was so thrilled to be in NY with my Brazilian buddies and to see my darling friends from school Amy and Katie (in fact I…

Pause For: A powder day!

Just so you won't be disappointed with no videos this week I'll post pictures of the reason I didn't have time to work on one this week! In between kids recovering from stomach flu, cleaning, cooking, working on my paying job, and having a couple of delightful days on the mountains enjoying the fresh snow and the freezing cold (ok, didn't enjoy the cold that much!) I found myself short on time...so I hope you enjoy the views of this beautiful place that Vail is and hopefully entice you to pay us a visit!!!   I could tell you about the clothes and accessories but who cares when the view is sooo cool! Right?!  If you follow me on instagram you're probably sick of looking at these but hey a lot of you don't!…
