The 2024 Fall Fashion Trends Everyone Is Loving

post featured image post featured image

Now that autumn weather has arrived, I wanted to round up some of my favorite fall fashion trends that I’ve come across so far this season. There have been several repeat trends from last fall (ballet flats, Adidas Samba sneakers, etc.) but there are also a handful of new styles that are majorly in at the moment.

I always like to mix more timeless pieces — like jeans, trench coats, and chunky knit sweaters — with more trendy picks. Incorporating multiple styles into your looks will give your outfit a well-rounded and visually appealing end result, so don’t be afraid to mix and match different textures, colors, and metals.

Whether you’re looking for some new wardrobe staples or some bold accessories, all of these picks would make a chic addition to your closet. What I love about them is that while they’re “in” right now, they’re all classic enough to reach for long after this season.

2024 Fall Fashion Trends

Fall Fashion Trend #1: Suede Bags

If there’s one trend has surprised me the most this season, it would be how popular suede bags have become. While I personally love the look, I wouldn’t have expected people to go so crazy over an accessory. These cozy looking bags are everywhere right now, and they are available in a large variety of styles — totes, shoulder bags, clutches, etc. I’m linking a few of my favorites below!

Fall Fashion Trend #2: Ballet Flats

While ballet flats aren’t exactly a new trend, I sure am happy to see that they’re still in style. They’re the ideal shoe choice for transitional weather, and they have the added bonus of working for both casual and more dressy occasions. If you’re looking for a shoe that’s practical to wear from day to night, this is it. Stick with a neutral color if you want to wear them on the regular, or opt for something that makes more of a statement, like a metallic ballet flat.

Fall Fashion Trend #3: Mock Neck Sweaters

Sweaters of all styles are an obvious go-to during the fall, but if there’s one silhouette that’s in the spotlight this season, it’s mock neck knits (how is that for a tongue twister?!)

I shared several outfits wearing this black sweater and it quickly became a bestseller. Lean into the look with a cozy pick of your own, whether it’s a solid color or something with a print. Pair any of the picks below with jeans and boots, heels, or ballet flats for a simple yet elevated outfit.

Fall Fashion Trend #4: Barn Jackets

This might be my favorite trend so far this fall. I have been swooning over the barn jacket look and think they offer such an unexpected element to a variety of outfits. While the OG barn jacket might be this Carhart pick, there are several brands that have their own variations of the layer. Style one with a black denim skirt, white t-shirt, and white sneakers as the temperatures adjust!

Fall Fashion Trend #5: Metallics

Metallics are back, and in my opinion, the options this year are better than ever. From shiny accessories to eye-catching base layers, this trend is ideal for the gal who isn’t afraid to make a statement. I’d test this look during a girls night out or on a date night. Start small by adding some silver touches to your outfits (with a bag, shoes, or a belt) then go all in with pants or a skirt once you’ve gotten more comfortable with the trend.

Tip: Keeping the other pieces you’re wearing on the neutral side of things will ensure that your outfit looks well-balanced.

Fall Fashion Trend #6: Riding Boots

You might think that riding boots are an aggressive choice to wear in autumn weather, but the reality is that there are ways you can style them to accommodate both mild temperatures and more tough, winter conditions. During the transitional season, pair them with a sweater dress or a skirt and off-the-shoulder top. Then, when things really start to get chilly, swap those pieces for your go-to jeans, a cardigan, and a coat.

This is another great shoe option that’s seamless to wear from day to night, as well as for more laid-back and dressed up outings.

Fall Fashion Trend #7: Belts

I know, I know — belts are somewhat always “in.” However, I’ve been noticing that people are incorporating them into their outfits now more than ever. Whether you like the look of a suede belt or something leather, this classic accessory can take a regular outfit up a notch. Plus, all of these are pieces you’ll have in your wardrobe for years to come.

Fall Fashion Trend #8: Sneakers

Last but not least, I’d be remiss if I didn’t include sneakers on this list. The Adidas Sambas trend is clearly still going strong, but other brands, like New Balance and Isabel Marant are equally as noteworthy this season.
