How to a Style Sequin Skirt This Winter

The holiday season is here, and that means it’s time to bring out the sparkle! A sequin skirt is the ultimate holiday statement piece — glamorous, versatile, and oh-so-festive. Whether I’m attending a chic cocktail party, hosting a family dinner, or going for a casual holiday outing, this standout piece can be styled countless ways.

Sequin skirts have become one of my favorite seasonal trends and styling them allows me to bring out my creative side. Here, I’m sharing exactly how you can make your sequin skirt the star of your holiday wardrobe!

How to Style a Sequin Skirt

Mix neutrals and animal prints.

I’m a neutrals girl through and through, but who said sparkles can’t be neutral too? I love pairing simple and streamlined brown tones with this sequin skirt. The combo adds warmth to an otherwise toned down look, making it the perfect cozy yet elevated outfit. Styling different textures together has also become something I continue to find myself doing, especially this winter season.

Not only am I sporting my favorite neutral sweater, but I paired it with the print of year: leopard. Adding animal print to this look adds a fun and unexpected touch — you might not necessarily think of this pattern as a “holiday” or “winter” trend, but it provides something unique to focus on.

Add a faux fur coat.

Nothing says midwest winter like forming an outfit around your coat. This faux fur coat offers the perfect way to level up any look, but how amazing is it paired with a sequin skirt? It adds texture, warmth, and comfort. And when you arrive at your destination, making sure your look is perfect underneath that fur coat is just as important!

Layering is obviously a must during the winter season, so I paired this look with a cashmere sweater and a chunky scarf. It keeps the look chic and cozy even when it’s time for me to take my coat off.

Make it edgy.

Who said sequin skirts can’t be edgy? Adding some black to this outfit takes it from a holiday party to a night out — perfect for this winter season! I love a leather jacket and black heel situation, even the neutral girl in me can’t deny it. And pairing with the edgy sunglasses that are affordable… say less.

Another perk? I love when I can put together a look that looks expensive but is in the budget. This specific skirt is under $70 (how?!) it’s chic and comfy and I’ve been loving it with all of these looks.

Pull from the season’s trends.

There’s no denying the color of the season is the merlot/burgundy/maroon shade that everyone has been loving — myself included. Incorporating a trending color with a simple sequin skirt will always make for the perfect holiday outfit!

I love using the “sandwich method,” which essentially means you pair your shoes to match the color of your top (leaving one different piece in between.) I accomplished this by styling some burgundy ankle boots with a matching button up sweater. Leaving the silver sequin skirt in between breaks the duo up and provides lots of visual interest.

Speaking of the sandwich method, this bag goes perfect with the sequin skirt. Mixing several metallic pieces will offer a subtle yet festive nod to the holiday season.
