Cargo pants have been majorly on trend lately, and I personally think the style is here to stay. They are obviously a good choice for the spring, but they can be easily styled for summer and even fall weather.

Another perk to cargo pants is that they work for just about any event or occasion, whether your weekends are filled with your kids’ soccer games or you spend your down time getting dinner with friends. You really can make a cargo pant outfit your own—and the looks I’m sharing below prove it.

How to Style Cargo Pants

Cargo Pants With a Crewneck

For those soccer tournament weekends (that I mentioned above), or for other casual outings, pair your cargos with a basic crewneck sweater. This combo makes for the ultimate “mom” uniform that’s both stylish and easy to throw together. Plus, you likely have a crewneck in your wardrobe already, so it simplifies this outfit even more.

As far as shoes go, I personally think white sneakers are one of the best options since they go with everything. You could also throw on a baseball cap, a tote bag, and some sunglasses if you want to accessorize more.

Cargo Pants With a White Top and Heels

I’ve been crushing on eyelet fabrics as of late, and it seems like you all are equally as obsessed. This particular top is under $25 and would make for the perfect spring and summer staple. The ruffled, feminine detailing make it an unexpected combo with the laid-back cargo pants.

I picture this outfit as a good go-to for a girls night out or a weekend brunch. The silver heels add a pop of color and texture, but you could also wear flat sandals, sneakers, or loafers.

I adore the combo of the white button-up shirt with the classic pattern on the striped tee. Need a heavier layer? This striped sweater is a current spring favorite.

For shoes, you really have endless options. I went with a pair of woven ballet flats (these are similar) but sandals or even some metallic slingback flats would look cute.

Last but not least, you can never go wrong with a trench coat. I swear this outfit feels like you’re wearing pajamas, but it’s socially acceptable to wear in public. I chose a crewneck sweatshirt for my top and then layered with this coat—ideal for cool mornings or crisp nights.

I’d consider this a good errand running outfit, but you could wear it for coffee dates or a casual lunch as well. One bonus is that trench coats are usually lightweight, so this would be easy to slip off if it gets warmer throughout the day.
