MidWest Fashion Week – Fall 2014
You’ve heard it right girlfriends, the Official MidWest Fashion Week makes a come back stronger than ever. After a few not so impressive shows in the past I must say I was pretty wowed with this year’s quality of designers, venues, production and the whole shebang. I was only able to attend Friday’s show at the Indianapolis Artsgarden, but heard great things about the other shows.
My story with the MWFW dates back to 2007 when I was in Fashion Design school, it was their first edition and I volunteered to work backstage as a dresser. On that same year my dress won third place for the Humane Society cruelty free design competition and got featured on the Seventeen Magazine for a school ad along with walking the Runway for MidWest Fashion Week’s first edition. Later on the Indianapolis community saw amazing designers come and go on the runways of various MWFW events, but at some point they seemed to hit a bump in the road (like we all do) and things weren’t working so great (this is solely my opinion as a fashion blogger who attends shows and enjoys seeing beautiful things), it was mainly production and venues that were less than exciting. That being said I felt like all of their hard work is being paid off after watching this show. I know some Indy’s fashion insiders also share the same opinion and I couldn’t be happier to see all of this happening so beautifully. Also can’t wait for more!!!

Moving on to outfit talks, here’s what I wore for the occasion.
Taking into consideration I was up since 5:50 that morning, had a full 9 hour shift at work, went home and did my BFF’s makeup (who also had a long day at work) along with re-doing my own makeup and had about 15 minutes to whip something from my closet and look fashion forward at the least! The fact that I was coming down with a bad cold and close to get my monthly visit (you know ladies) was not helping momma here feel good at all, so I’d say I did incredibly good considering my conditions. Hahahaha yes I’m crazy #TMI
And since the best light of the night was in fact in the bathroom, I did it….for you of course, take pictures in the bathroom!!!
So ladies, I’m most thankful for Maggie, the owner of Garish Gal for gifting me with these AH-MAZING pants from Blank NYC, called the Daddy Soda Moto Pants. These literally saved my outfit, so edgy and buttery feel, all the detailing, these pictures do not do justice to how awesome these pants are. Lots and lots of design work went into them and I felt like they complimented my Valentinos in a not so obvious way, and I still managed to look girly and like myself in such a understated look! Thoughts??

As a side note that I could not leave out of this post is that Maggie is a strong believer in funding education for women to prevent Human Trafficking . This means that for every $150 spent by a customer, $25 goes towards funding education. Every retail quarter the funds are donated all at once to a school based project. This quarter will benefit Project117.org, which provides hope through education for the left behind children of Haiti. She empowers the shopper to fund education by simply shopping…GENIUS if you ask me! I’ll be featuring Garish Gal more on the blog since I love to shop for a cause 🙂
