7 Spring Shoe Trends to Start Shopping Now

I don’t know about you but I am always eager to refresh my wardrobe when we approach a new season. It’s always nice to revisit your closet staples each quarter and take inventory on what you’re wearing most, what you need more of, and what might need to be replaced.

While pieces like tops and bottoms might naturally be shopped for, shoes are often put on the back burner and considered as an afterthought.

The reality is that shoes can really make or break your outfit.

When styled right, shoes offer the finishing touch to your look and can set the tone for casual, dressy, and every occasion in between.

Here, I’m sharing a handful of spring shoe trends that are worth keeping in mind as we inch into the warmer season. These picks might be having a moment in the spotlight right now but they’re all timeless and practical options that you can reach for year after year.

Spring Shoe Trends

1. Oxfords and loafers will be the go-to.

Topping my spring shoe trend list? Loafers, specifically those that have an Oxford style (which provide a chic and classic look to any outfit.) This particular pair has been in high rotation as we see some warmer days here in Indianapolis — and they pair perfectly with both skirts and jeans.

One perk to loafers (regardless of the style) is that they’re easy to slip on yet they offer an elevated look.

Loafers are always trendy in the fall, but they’re great for spring too. Their design makes them ideal for transitional seasons and they’re also a good go-to for office wear.

2. Metallics will continue to shine.

Another trend that we see skyrocket in the fall is the use of metallic accessories and shoes. The same goes for spring, as many shoppers like to brighten up their outfits after a long and dreary winter.

Ballet flats, loafers, and heels are all good options to reach for if you want to lean into this look. There are also plenty of metallic sneakers out there but I have found those to better for the more bold gal.

3. Bold colors will make a splash.

Speaking of the bold gals, bright shoes have definitely made a statement in recent months — and they’ll only become more prevalent as we make our way into spring. Reds and pinks have been two repeats I’m loving, but all colors go.

If you dip your toes into this trend I would suggest opting for more neutral pieces throughout the rest of your outfit. For example, you could pair some cherry red heels with a little black dress or style bubblegum pink sneakers with jeans and a white tee.

The combo of bright colors and more timeless pieces will leave you with a well-balanced end result.

4. Raffia picks will offer major vacation vibes.

I have always loved the laid-back feel that raffia offers an outfit. Something about the material gives off major vacation vibes — and let’s be honest — most of us crave a getaway come early spring.

This pair of raffia slide sandals have been one of my bestsellers for years now. Yes, they are an investment, but they’re timeless, comfortable, and will serve you well for seasons to come.

Pair espadrilles or sandals with raffia detailing with dresses, skirts, linen shorts, or jeans. The options for styling these shoes are seemingly endless.

5. White sneakers will still reign supreme.

Not to contradict myself here, but white sneakers will continue to be just as much “in” as they always were. To balance out more bright and bold shoe choices, white kicks are a nice option to mix in.

I’m of the belief that everyone should have a few pairs of go-to white sneakers in their wardrobe at all times. They’re arguably the most versatile shoe option, and if you choose the right pair, they’re highly supportive and comfortable. Plus, they can work throughout all four seasons.

6. Ankle boots will be preferred in lighter colors.

While tall boots might be a staple during the fall and winter, ankle booties become more popular as we inch into warmer weather. Rather than reaching for dark brown and black hues, colors like tan, ivory, moss, and chestnut can offer a more spring-forward feel.

7. Western-inspired boots will offer a punch of personality.

The western-style boot trend has come and gone for years, but the desire for it this spring (and summer!) will be big. These boots create such a fun variation from your typical ankle boots — and they pack a lot of personality.

Whether you go with suede or leather boots, either make a fashionable choice to pair with denim, dresses, and skirts. I also love packing these for a girls trip!
