The countdown to the holiday is officially on and I’m so eager to celebrate with my family and friends. I’ve said it many times before but one of my favorite things about this season is that it offers up the perfect excuse to dress up (and wear something sparkly!)
You might think of a sequin skirt as something you can only pull out of your closet for a few special occasions, but it is such a fun and versatile piece that can truly be part of your routine wear—holiday or no holiday.
To help you figure out exactly how to style a sequin skirt—whether it’s for a New Year’s party or upcoming dinner event—I’ve rounded up some of my best ideas. Here, you’ll find inspiration for wearing a glittery skirt for all occasions.
p.s. The exact sequin skirt I’m wearing is almost sold out at Nordstrom but below are a bunch of different options from mini to maxi.

Perhaps the most obvious sequin skirt outfit during this time of year is to throw something together for a holiday party. Like I mentioned above, sequins are great to incorporate in your looks throughout the year, but there’s something about them that feel especially appropriate during the holidays.
I love that this look can be worn for so many occasions, whether you’re going to a Christmas gathering or to a special event to celebrate the New Year.
Just slip into a pair of heels and add a purse and some dainty earrings for the finishing touches.
If the weather where you live is quite frightful then consider styling your sequin skirt with a cozy sweater. Not only is this a practical option because it offers you some added warmth, but it also looks incredibly chic.
Another bonus is that you likely already have a neutral sweater in your closet that you can use to recreate this outfit—a win-win.
If you want to take this look up another notch, a polo style sweater or off-the-shoulder option can add an extra unique touch.
If you’re hoping to dress down a sequin skirt, try pairing it with a simple bodysuit, a cropped jacket, and some sneakers. For this specific look, I opted for metallic sneakers but you could easily swap them for a basic pair of white kicks.
Not only is this outfit easy to put together but it’s also comfy despite the way it offers an elevated and polished feel. I love having this as a go-to outfit option for meeting friends, running errands, or going to grab coffee.
If you’re heading to a holiday play or musical, I’d say this is the perfect outfit choice. By layering a sequin skirt with a black velvet blazer, you can bring a more sophisticated and formal feel to your overall look.
I wore a black t-shirt bodysuit (this one is my favorite) underneath the blazer so it would blend in flawlessly and ensure that the blazer and skirt were the stars of the show.
Oh, and as far as shoes go, these shiny pumps have a particularly holiday-ready feel.
