Denim Guide: My Favorite Jeans (in Various Styles)

post featured image post featured image

If there’s one piece of clothing that’s superior in terms of versatility, we all know that it’s a pair of jeans. No wardrobe would be complete without a healthy mix of denim, including different cuts, washes, and styles. Jeans pair with literally every type of top, layer, shoe, and accessory you could think of, not to mention that they can be worn throughout all seasons.

With all of that being said, finding the perfect pair of jeans is no easy feat. We all have different things we look for when shopping for pants โ€” the list of personal preferences can go on and on. However, I think there are some non-negotiables in my book: comfort, quality, and style.

I personally love to have a large mix of silhouettes in my denim lineup. From cropped jeans and straight leg styles to barrel pants and dad jeans, I’m rounding up a handful of my favorites here. Whether you’re in need of a closet overhaul or you’re simply looking to freshen up your look, consider this your go-to guide for all things denim!

p.s. I know styles change and products sell out โ€” I’ll plan on updating this post with any new favorites.

Best Loose Fit Jeans: AFRM Archer Loose Fit Jeans

I know that loose fit jeans are more of an “of the moment” style, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned from dipping my toes in the trend, it’s that they are comfy. I’d also argue that they’ll be around for longer than the typical trend. While they make a statement, they still aren’t over the top. Plus, they work for both casual and more dressy occasions.

This particular pair hugs you in all the right places and is more roomy in others. I also adore the slightly gray wash, which switches things up from the typical blue jean look.

Best Straight Leg Jeans: AGOLDE Fran Low Slung Straight Jeans

Looking for a classic pair of pants that will never go out of style? These would be my top choice. AGOLDE is a go-to brand for many women, and while their pants might be more of a splurge, they will certainly last you a lifetime. They wash well and hold their shape like no other jeans (in my opinion.) Plus, they have a variety of styles to choose from, so once you find your fit, I’d venture to guess that you’ll keep going back for more!

The slight low-rise fit on these pants is a refreshing change from the typical high-rise styles. I also love that these have a cuffed hem, which will add a nice detail to all of your outfits.

Best Everyday Jeans: Levi’s Dad Jeans

Levi’s is the OG brand in the denim category, and there’s a reason the brand is still so popular today โ€” they just know how to make a quality pair of pants at an attainable price point. Levi’s tend to fit on the more snug side, which means they do a stellar job at retaining their silhouette/shape (despite putting them through the wringer.)

If I could only make one recommendation on the best everyday jeans for women, I’d say anything in the Levi’s family is fair game. These dad-style jeans are one of my most worn pieces, and they just so happen to be priced at right under $100.

Best Wide Leg Jeans: Paige Anessa Raw Hem Jeans

For a more statement-making look, wide leg jeans are always a good idea. They work especially well with heels in the summer or heeled booties in the fall and winter. And on another note, I also love incorporating a pair of black jeans in from time to time. They really make light colored tops and shoes pop, and they’re also an on-trend choice for the cooler seasons.

This pair has a high-rise fit, raw hem detailing, and slight distressing. I will say that they do run quite long, making them ideal for the taller gals out there!

Best Budget-Friendly Jeans: Scoop Stovepipe Straight Leg Jeans

Prefer to save on denim and spend more on the trendier pieces? If so, these are the jeans for you. They’re under $30 and come in a couple of washes. For the price point, I have to say that I’ve been thoroughly impressed with how comfortable and flattering these pants are. The only negative is that these sell out quickly (which speaks to how well loved they are!)

Best Baggy Jeans: Levi’s Baggy High Waist Dad Jeans

If you like the baggy jean look but you don’t feel ready to go “all in,” consider these. While they have the stereotypical loose leg fit, they’re not overly bulky. I have found that they pair perfectly with boots and heels. These also have a longer hem, so be mindful that if you’re on the shorter side, you’ll either have to wear them with a heel or you’ll need to get them altered.

Best Tapered Jeans: Madewell Tapered Denim Trousers

What do you get when you combine denim with trousers? A chic end result. These jeans may not be the “norm” in the denim department, but they’re so much fun to add to the mix! I styled these with tanks and off-the-shoulder tops during the spring and summer, and I’m eager to pair them with sweaters and boots during the fall and winter.

The tapered fit is highly flattering, and it adds a lot of visual interest to your overall look. Bonus: This silhouette makes your legs look longer!

Best Crop Jeans: Sezane Le Crop Jeans

Last but not least, no closet would be well-rounded without a cute pair of cropped jeans. There are so many options out there, but this is the pair that I find myself repeatedly going back to. The light, faded wash is so pretty and is ideal for the warmer seasons. Other perks: These maintain their structure despite many wears (in between washes) and they’re under $130!
