Miami Series: Key Biscayne – The Ritz Carlton

Katie, a friend who used to work with me says The Ritz Carlton is LIFE and the rest is just the rest…I guess I couldn’t have found better words to describe the ultimate luxury of TRC hotels. I first heard of the chain back in the 90’s when dad along with mom won a trip to the US along with a group for best sales performers of the year through 3M Brazil (where he retired from). Well guess what? 3M put them all at the TRC in different states and boy they came back home with every little token imaginable, we had Ritz Carlton mini soaps, shampoos, body creams and shower caps for months…silly? Well not when you have not seen anything like it! Years later we visited TRC in Beaver Creek, CO – to this day the most amazing one I’ve come across.

So Desi suggested we spend the day in Key Biscayne and have lunch at The Ritz Carlton and both Maria and I jumped at it – YES PLEASE! Then again lunch and drinks cost a small fortune but hey it was a treat. Private beach, no need to carry chairs and umbrellas and the view….the people….the ice cream is prettier and even the air smells rich, if you know what I mean! Hehehehe. We took long walks and relaxed before hitting the bar and having amazing fish tacos and $20 dollar margaritas (yikes! They were pretty good though!!). At the end of the day we stopped at the café before heading home. I seriously wish I had taken more pics, everything was dreamy! A room there cost anywhere from $400 a night to $4k, I’m guessing they have packages for drinks and snacks also available.

And there we went….playing chic!

This view alone was priceless! I found this hat at the local Burlington (same as TJMaxx, Marshalls, etc). I thought it was very Chanel 🙂

I know it’s tacky to take my LV neverfull to the beach but it was either that or nothing. I had no room for a beack bag in my suitcase. Either way I want to say it was a great choice, the bag is enourmous and fits everything you can think of: extra set of clothes, beach towel, extra flip flops, makeup bag (just a few basics), phone, camera, etc.

Lunch time yummies!! Some things are worth the splurge, this is one of them 🙂

Travel Tip: reserach your local luxury hotels and give yourself a fancy day to relax and enjoy the enviroment for the cost of a pricy lunch. In lots of cases is very much worth it. Some places allow the use of the pools for a fee. Call beforehand and ask the questions 🙂
