It’s Complete! Our Modern Bathroom Makeover Reveal

If you’ve been following me along on Instagram stories then you might know that we’ve been working on our bathroom makeover for quite some time. Why is it that home projects always seem to get delayed? While the process was lengthier than expected, I have to admit that it was well worth the wait!

As of this week, we have officially wrapped up all of the bathroom renovations and I’m so excited to share all the details here with you. The goal was to create a cozy and relaxing atmosphere for Brian and I to use at the start and end of each day — and that’s exactly what we were left with.

Bathrooms can often feel like an afterthought or as a waste of an investment, but when done with thought and care, they can really transform the overall look (and value) of your home. Plus, you likely spend more time in your bathroom than you think: It’s a place you unwind after a long day (warm bath, anyone?) and it’s the spot many of us gals do our hair and makeup on a daily basis — so why not pour a little extra love into that space?

Through the remodel process, there were lots of big decisions we had to make, like what tile we wanted in the shower and what finishes we wanted on our vanity, but I also found that the little details were just as important. Paint colors, towel hooks, wall art, and decor all come together to execute the final “theme.”

Whether your bathroom is due for an update or you’re hoping to make small tweaks to your existing space, I’m sharing all the details of our makeover below.

Bathroom Makeover

Bathroom Decor

Like I mentioned above, we really wanted our primary bathroom to feel welcoming and relaxing, so adding little touches of decor was essential. Because we went with more modern and clean finishes — like marble countertops and wood cabinets — it was important for us to cozy things up with softer decor. Adding faux plants, pretty wall art, and plush towels and rugs resulted in a well-balanced space — and bonus, all of the pieces we used were affordable.

I had sourced a bubbled white vase to use when I decorated my office and then came across this one at Target. I loved how similar it looked and I felt like it would add nice height and texture to the bathroom. Both vases are great price points and have a timeless feel. We stuck some faux florals into the vase for a fresh and airy look (these are the ones we used.) You could swap these out seasonally if you wanted to switch things up!

The additional touches on our bathroom vanity were more simple, like adding a cute soap dish and a little marble jar (this one is similar to what we have.) Don’t underestimate the impact small items can make — you can keep your decor fairly streamlined and simple while still creating a space that feels well thought out and intentional.

Oh, and if you’re curious about the mirrors we picked, they actually double up as medicine cabinets. A perk to that design is that it offers more storage space without costing a fortune. I also adore these linear wall sconces we sourced from Amazon (they’re such a great price!)

Shower and Tub Details

When initially mapping out the design of our bathroom, we thought it would be fun to have our shower and bathtub serve as a major “moment.” The combo of the more statement-making marble and the sleek white tile made for a unique and fun blend — offering a modern yet timeless look.

I know it can be helpful to have the exact names when you’re looking for inspiration, so I’m sharing those details below! For reference, we had all of this fabricated and installed by Custom Stone.

Floor Tile: Ergon Wood Talk
Color: Beige Digue, 9×36″

Shower Floor Tile: Ozzi White
Color: Hex Mosaic, 2″

Shower Upper Walls: WOW Zellige Gloss
Color: White Gloss, 5″x5″

Shower Lower Walls: Techlam Porcelain Slabs
Color: Kaledonia

In addition to the tile, I really fell for all of the brushed gold hardware we installed. I love the way our shower head strikes a pretty balance between rustic and elegant — it also makes a subtle statement with its unique shape. For ease, we also installed a handheld shower head and I think the two complement each other perfectly. I like having the option to use both (especially on those no hair wash days!)

Hallway

I’ve mentioned this before but I’m really drawn to hardwood floors. I have always liked the feel and the ease of cleaning that they provide. We wanted to carry that look through to our cabinets and I think the end result is so warm and inviting, especially when compared to the cooler and more sophisticated look of the marble and tile.

However, we wanted to make sure the space didn’t read too dark or moody, so we stuck with a fresh and clean look on our hallway walls. A light paint color and a bit of crown molding did the trick — all we had to do was add some art and towel rods!

While it was a big commitment, I’m so pleased with how everything turned out. Our bathroom feels like a special place to get ready now, and it really impacts how we start and end our days. I hope this makeover gave you some inspiration for your own space.
