Hi ladies, welcome back to Karina Style Diaries! NYFW 19 is over for me but still going strong. I usually like to go for the first day (usually on Thursday) and stay through Sunday or Monday. Since this was my first time going in February I wanted to do a recap and give you tips along the days in case you’re planning to attend it during this time next year! NYFW Day 1 for me was busy, so naturally, I wore several looks since I was going to be at different places to shoot content.
Tip #1: Travel comfy and bring an extra suitcase! Honestly, it’s worth paying for extra luggage since we get so much merch from the PR agencies and showrooms. Airlines usually charge around $30 for each piece of luggage, or you can end up paying $100 for an overweight piece.
We stayed at the 11 Howard and OMG what an experience, no wonder it’s hard to find a room available there. Great room, best service ever and the location…unbeatable! I wore this oversized thick knit sweater on the plane (didn’t even need a coat!). I wore my go-to high waisted leather leggings, these are a great investment. I wear them to travel all the time and they are soft and super comfortable. Another great thing about them is that they haven’t stretched out like other brands I own. I am a sucker for the thick high waited band too!

I invested in a new pair of sunnies, these are the newest Gucci 2019 collection and I love the side colors. I thought they might clash with the colors of my looks but they went with absolutely everything I wore…you shall see it!
Close up deets of these goodies! I’m linking a Free People tunic super similar to this sweater except it isn’t textured (see the same one on this post – just a different color)
Tip #2: if NYFW is work for you, or you’re trying to make your line of work, try to travel with a photographer. Jen was literally my right arm during this last trip and I couldn’t be happier she came along. First, you can shoot everywhere and not have to carry a camera (which is huge). But if you choose to travel with your own camera, try to schedule your shoots in the morning before starting your appointments for the day. Or carry a good size bag, like my latest obsession I bring everywhere!
First stop of the day was Bollare. A PR gifting suite all the blogger’s LOVE!! I wore my sequin blazer and toned it down with jeans and a white tank top. The jeans are on sale for $39 and I’m in love with the fit, the look, and the price! I picked two jackets, a dress and a pair of Timberland Booties.

I get so many questions about my layered necklaces daily. I’ll make a post about it in detail but as a rule of thumb try layering them with different sizes so they don’t overlap one another. Keep the design simple so it’s not overwhelming either!
After my appointment, we headed back to the hotel for a change of look and it was show time babe! Off to the Pier 59 Studios, we went for Laurence and Chico show. I wanted to wear something “runway show” worth with a casual/comfortable feel to it. So I planned for this ultra fun sequin fringe skirt (go up a size for comfort, mine was too tight!) paired with a white tee! This one has cute embellished eyelashes so it’s a step up from your typical white tee. I wore a cropped leather jacket do it wouldn’t take away from the look! I wore these kitten heel booties everywhere, they still have a few sizes left and are the best deal!

The skirt has so much movement. It’s perfect for a date night or a fun event you might have. I wore it with a sweater for a cool laid back winter look. It would look lovely with a bodysuit to dress it up for spring as well. Very versatile!
After the show, Jen and I headed back to Soho to have our first meal of the day. We found the cutest corner bistro right by our hotel, Nickel and Diner. Delish food and an even better margarita! Haha Cheers!!
Last thing on the agenda was a meeting at Alison Brod uptown for some fun shopping! Alison Brod is a PR agency that offers a ton of services for brands, marketing management and influencer services. They represent some of my ultimate favorite beauty brands such as Kerastase, Skin Ceuticals, Peter Thomas Roth along with lots of makeup names like Urban Decay, Lime Crime, Lancome and some iconic fashion designers such as Rachel Roy ( a personal fave) and Lilly Pulitzer.
Jen went to shoot with Kelsey and we caught up later on back at the hotel. Then a sweet package arrived from Now & Zen PR with a jogger set I had ordered and found it to be PERFECT for a quick outing in the city. Honestly, guys, I was so tired by the end of the night (mind you, we got up at 4:30 to catch the 6 am flight) so even it the set wasn’t cute I was going to pull it off anyway!! Lucky me it was adorable!!! Click directly on the picture to shop or via the link on below words! We went to Oficina Latina, fun and very authentic Mexican place with lovely margs and delish tostones 🙂
I’m wearing a size XS and they run pretty true to size. Best news? Pants are on sale for $15 and so is the drop shoulder top!
