My Quick and Glowy Fall Makeup Routine

post featured image

Fall offers the ideal time to reinvent some of your go-to routines and habits — especially after a long and busy summer. While upping your wellness rituals is always welcome, another simple (and fun!) way to bring in the new season is by switching up your makeup products.

Each season calls for different types of makeup and skincare finds. Winter makeup is typically darker and more moody, lightweight and humidity-friendly picks are ideal during the summertime, and fall makeup leans more bronze and glowy.

Reaching for the right products is ultimately what will help you pull off a seasonally-appropriate look, and since I’m always testing out new makeup, I thought I’d share my favorite finds here with you!

The look I’m sharing definitely offers more of a “glam” vibe but it could be parred down for everyday wear if you exclude some of the products (like the eyeshadow or lip liner.) You can ultimately make the end result as laid-back or dressed up as you want, which is the true beauty of this particular makeup look.

Another perk to this fall makeup routine is that it only calls for a handful of products — no spending hours applying eyeliner or highlighter necessary. See all the picks I’ll be using this autumn below, as well as some extras that I always have in my makeup bag!

Fall Makeup Routine

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation

If you were to ask me to recommend one beauty brand that has just about everything you’d need to achieve both an everyday and more “dolled up” look, I’d vouch for Charlotte Tilbury. Over the years, I have found so many products I love from this brand, and I find that I continuously go back to them. In fact, I’m such a fan that I have a dedicated blog post on all my favorites.

When it comes to foundation, I always want to use something that feels lightweight and breathable. Even in the cooler and more dry fall and winter months, the last thing I want is to feel makeup on my skin — I’d rather not know it’s there! This one checks that requirement off the list, and it does a stellar job at covering imperfections like dark spots, melasma, and hyperpigmentation.

Other perks include: It’s long-wearing, has a pretty matte finish, and it comes in a wide range of shades. If you need a good base layer that will last you all day and night, this is it.

Armani Beauty Eye Tint Long-Lasting Liquid Eyeshadow

One of the best ways to lean into the fall makeup trends? Swap your regular eyeshadow out for something shimmery. This one from Armani Beauty is made with a liquid formula — which I know sounds intimidating — but I promise it’s fool-proof to use!

It comes in shimmer, metallic, and matte finishes so you have plenty of options (and shades) to choose from. It’s easy to blend and I’ve found that it’s crease-proof even for all-day wear. I personally think the copper and gold shimmer tones are spot-on for the autumn, adding a pop of color and dimension to your look.

Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder

This setting powder is a favorite of mine regardless of the season, and yes, it’s fully worth the hype surrounding it. It locks your makeup in place and keeps your skin from getting oily throughout the day. If you’re doing a more detailed makeup routine, this is a must. Otherwise, you can likely get away without it on everyday occasions.

Hourglass Veil Powder Brush

If you opt for the setting powder route, this brush is my top choice for applying it. It has the added perk of being multi-use, which means you can save space in your makeup bag. Use the smaller side in your under-eye area and the larger side to apply powder or blush. I’m wearing the setting powder in the photo below!

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder

Another tried-and-true setting powder option? This pick from Charlotte Tilbury. It follows through on its promise to blur imperfections and reduce shine, making it the ideal last step in your routine. I always have this stocked in my bathroom cabinet!

Iris & Romeo Lash Up Peptide Volumizing Mascara

I will admit that I’m always switching up my mascara, and this is a new favorite of mine. Iris & Romeo is a somewhat under-the-radar brand that I feel should be more talked about. I have several beauty products from them and have repeatedly been impressed with what they deliver.

This mascara does everything a good one should: lengthens, curls, defines each lash, and adds volume. I love that you can purchase it in a mini size so you can test it out without committing to a full tube!

Tarte XL Tubing Mascara

If you haven’t ever tried a tubing mascara, this is your sign to. In my experience, they go above and beyond traditional mascaras and add more length and dimension to your lashes. The fine comb on this Tarte pick is perfect for catching every little lash. You could use this on its own or apply it after the Iris & Romeo mascara that I linked above!

Dibs The Palm Palettes

If the concept of using a liquid eyeshadow feels too intimidating to you, stick with a classic palette instead. I love the shades on this one from Dibs — they’re universal enough for year-round wear yet they have the rich and warm tones that I always prefer in the fall. I used this in the makeup look featured at the top of this blog post!

Patrick Ta Major Dimension III Matte Eyeshadow Palette

For an even moodier look, consider this matte palette. I’d reach for this for date nights or special occasions — really any time I want a more glam result. Although this pick has darker shades, it also offers a decent amount of neutrals, like light beige and brown.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Liner

The lip liner I’m wearing in the photo at the beginning of this post is actually from Form Factor and the exact shade (Wood) is sold out. However, this liner from Charlotte Tilbury is eerily similar and has a cult-following for being one of the best lip products on the market. The “Pillow Talk” shade is ideal for day to day wear, offering a subtle yet polished touch to your pout.

Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm

Last but not least, add some shine to your lips with this Lip Butter Balm. I have talked about my love for the “vanilla” (aka clear) version of this product many times before, but for the fall season, I like that this one provides some color. A little bit goes a long way — plus, it will keep your lips hydrated!
