Miami Series: South Beach

You simply can’t go to Miami and not make a pit stop at the famous white sand/turquoise waters of South Miami Beach. Back in the day this used to be a very exclusive and popular amongst VIP’s destination. Sad to say, not anymore but the beauty of the place remains intact and the art deco buildings surrounding the area takes you right back to somewhere in the 60’s….very cool if you ask me.

South Beach - Cannes

Like my very well traveled friend Desi asks: Does this resemble Cannes anyone?! I’d like to say YES even though I’ve never been, looking at the film festivals pictures this scenario is exactly what I think of  when I think of the French Riviera or Côte d’azur …. thoughts?!

Ombré Ocean – checked!

Travel Tips:

-Prepare to park a few blocks from the beach and plan ahead to take chairs, umbrella and coolers as they don’t provide any of these at the beach. Unless of course you stay in one of the amazing beach front hotels. Another option is to rent a beach bed/umbrella for the “bargain” of $100 for the whole day which allows you to order drinks from the hotel tent but NO use of their exclusive bathrooms…yes girlfriend you read it right – must pee in the water – sorry! Alcohol drinking is forbidden in the beach but then again this is Miami and you’d be amazed at what you see….I’ll leave it at that ;D and you didn’t hear it from me!!

To put this look together I paired the bottom of a Billabong suit and a triangle top solid black from Victoria’s Secret. Rag & Bone jean shorts. The hat belongs to my friend Maria and it’s a Panama Hat from J. Crew (similar in link, however we found this hat at J.Crew in Miami – call stores to have them ship to you if you must have this!); Havaianas Slim Paisage (like a good Brazilian); Miranda Frye jewelry Balance Earrings – on sale!-  and Givenchy sunnies.

South Beach view

The pasty white ghostly look improved by the end of our stay, couldn’t help myself peeps….but the look of this water…..ahhhhh

South Beach

I leave you with that sweet feeling of “I want to go there” and I can’t wait to share more of my mini vacay with you over the next few weeks!! Also super happy to see we have a warm weekend to look forward to here in Indy!!
