The Art of Washing the Face

Hi, friends! Let’s talk nighttime skincare! If you aren’t already washing your face before bed every night, you should be. I get it, it can be a real pain to go through a whole routine right before bed especially when you’re so exhausted from the day! And I was guilty of skipping the face wash and crashing in my younger years… but besides the risk of breaking out from excess bacteria, leaving makeup on overnight can actually cause your skin to prematurely age! Your skin renews itself at night. During the cell turnover process, new skin cells push to the surface while your skin sheds old cells. Makeup traps these dead skin cells, leaving a dull complexion while causing your skin to appear aged. It can also contribute to the degradation of collagen. I wish younger me had this information!

If you struggle to stick with a nighttime cleansing routine, I suggest just keeping it simple. I like to add in serums, masks, lip balms etc. but you definitely don’t have to! Just make sure you’re washing your face and replenishing it with a moisturizer. I recently switched up my nighttime cleanser to a soy cleanser by Fresh. Their cleanser and moisturizer duo would be perfect for someone looking for an easy nighttime routine!
