I love a good knit skirt during the transitional seasons, but you guys already know that! So naturally, I wanted to show you different ways to style one for spring and summer weather. If you’re worried that this piece will be too of-the-moment, just know that knit skirts are a great piece to wear well into the fall as well.
Knit skirts are super comfortable to wear throughout the day since they’re made with such soft fabric and typically have quite a bit of give. However, despite their cozy factor, they also leave you with a chic and put-together look. In my opinion, this makes knit skirts the ultimate base layer when you want to wear something other than a dress or jeans.
Below, I’m sharing a handful of ways to style a midi knit skirt, whether you want to look casual or a bit more dressed up!

For an easy everyday look, start by slipping into a white tank or a bodysuit (this one is cute and at a good price point!) Then, pick your favorite knit midi skirt and add a touch of casual to the look by tying an oversized denim jacket around your waist. Sunglasses and cute sandals provide the finishing touches.
If you want a more elevated look, opt for a lace trimmed cami as your top (it gives it such a feminine feel!) A white, beige, or rich brown colored tank would look really pretty with a cream colored skirt. Just add sandals or even a pair of heels, then accessorize with dainty gold or silver jewelry.
Make your midi knit skirt outfit a bit edgy and fun with a graphic tee. If a bold t-shirt feels a bit out of your comfort zone, I’d suggest looking for options from Abercrombie—they have a ton of graphic tees that are more on the minimalist side. As far as accessories go, just throw a dainty crossbody bag over your shoulder and you’ll be set for a day filled with errands or appointments.
There are a lot of top options that can make a midi skirt work-appropriate, however this satin one is just fab!! The exact one I’m wearing is unfortunately sold out, but this one is really similar. I also think this ivory one would look so pretty with a black knit skirt.
If you want an option that feels a bit more flirty (for outside of work) this black skirt has the perfect little slit!
This is another look that’s wildly easy to put together (likely with pieces you already have!) Any tank top would work with this outfit, but I think it’s fun to do a little knit on knit action. This cowl neck find would also be cute. Also, if you want to switch up your typical accessories, go with a wide brimmed hat.
You can make any outfit look more chic by carefully selecting colors that pair well together. In this case, I went with black and cream—two hues that feel elevated. To replicate this look, style a black tank with a cream colored knit skirt. Then, just slip into some matching black sandals.
There’s no denying that a white t-shirt is a year-round closet staple, and it just so happens to pair perfectly with a knit midi skirt. This is a good find from Amazon and has a similar look to the tank I’m wearing below, and this knotted option gives off a laid-back feel.
Again, don’t underestimate the impact a good hat can make. I’m wearing this one and can’t recommend it enough (you’ll get tons of wear out of it!)
When in doubt, you can never go wrong with a monochromatic look. There are some cute knit midi skirt sets out there that come with matching tops, like this ivory duo, but you could also style a similar colored shirt with your bottoms. Adding a belt and a clutch will tie everything together and break up the look.

So happy to hear that Susy!! x
