One of my favorite things to do is to test out new makeup and see what’s worth a spot in my daily lineup. However, I know that not everyone enjoys switching things up when they aren’t really sure if they’ll love a product.
It can get pricey to test out new makeup, and it’s so frustrating when you splurge on something only to find out that it wasn’t really worth the hype. Over the years of testing different brands, I know that finding the right makeup products for your routine is highly individualized. With that being said, I do think there are some standout picks that are universally loved. I also think it’s helpful to read about other peoples experiences with certain products since it can help you figure out if they’ll be a good fit for you and your skin type.
There’s no denying that Charlotte Tilbury is one of the most popular makeup brands out there. She has a lineup of several products that are highly coveted and raved about, including the Flawless Filter, Pillow Talk Lipstick, and her lip liners.
It’s easy to see why so many people are drawn to the brand—the packaging is beautiful, the price points are fair, and most importantly, the products actually deliver what they promise.
Whether you’re entirely new to the brand or you’re just interested in adding more makeup to your bag, I’m sharing my honest Charlotte Tilbury review here. This review includes some of my favorite products as well as some of the most popular picks from the collection.
First things first, no makeup routine would be complete without a trusted foundation. I reach for the Airbrush Flawless Foundation on days when I want optimal coverage (whether it’s for a date night or a special event.)
While this foundation feels light on my skin, it does a great job at covering imperfections like dark spots, melasma, and hyperpigmentation. I would say that adding a concealer on top of stubborn spots is ideal, but overall, this product does the trick with providing you with a clean and smooth canvas.
Another thing I’d like to call out about this foundation is that it is very long-lasting, making it a fool-proof pick to use when you have a busy day or long night ahead.
Every foundation leaves you with a slightly different look/finish, and I’ve loved the matte look this one leaves me with. An added perk is that it comes in soooo many shades, so there’s a fit for everyone.
I’m sure many of you came to this post specifically to read a review on the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter. While this product has been around for quite some time, it hasn’t lost relevancy whatsoever. People rave about this stuff, as if it were a source of liquid gold.
The Flawless Filter isn’t marketed as a concealer, yet it works similarly to one. You could definitely use this in place of a concealer since it offers similar results. It works by blurring and smoothing imperfections while offering a healthy dose of illumination—almost as if you were using a filter.
The coverage of this product is noted to be light, but I have found that it’s very buildable if you want to get a more streamlined look.
Applying it is also really easy—simply use the wand to add a small amount to your skin, then blend it with your fingertips. You can use it anywhere you feel like you need a little pick-me-up, such as under your eyes, around your nose, or on your cheeks.
Speaking of concealers, this might be a good option for your skin type. One of the main highlights about this concealer is the range of shades it comes in (I’d say the lineup is more diverse than most brands offer.)
It provides medium to full coverage that conceals, brightens, and gives a lifting effect to your eyes and face. Each shade is waterproof and promises to last up to 16 hours.
To be totally transparent, I wouldn’t say this is my favorite concealer out there (I think there are others that do a better job) but it is well liked by many. If you’re curious about this one, I’d recommend reading through the reviews on Sephora and finding a recap from someone with your same skin type/color.
On the plus side, I do like that this product is made with hyaluronic acid, which hydrates skin, as well as niacinamide, which is a smoothing and nourishing ingredient.
You might think that this product would be an unnecessary addition to your makeup routine, but I would argue otherwise. If you deal with any color challenges on your skin, such as melasma, this color corrector can serve as a go-to for combating that.
Apply it to any troublesome spots before using foundation or concealer, and gently blend it in. It works by concealing pigmentation while brightening your skin in a natural-looking way. It’s also great to use in your under-eye area since it’s formulated with ingredients that can reduce puffiness (a major perk after a sleepless night!)
It has a buttery texture that makes it easy to apply, and it’s a quick step that’s worth incorporating if you have any color concerns.
This is one of my most loved Charlotte Tilbury products. Finding the perfect blush can be a challenge since there are so many shades to choose from. It’s also hard to find one that has just the right consistency for your complexion.
One thing that’s really important to me when choosing a blush is that it’s long-wearing. While there are tons of pretty blushes out there, there aren’t many that hold up well throughout the day—especially if the weather is moody!
I’m pleased to report that this one passes my test. It stays put and looks just as radiant at the end of the day as it does when you first apply it.
Other highlights: It’s super pigmented (a little bit goes a long way!), buildable, and easy to blend. Three must-haves in my book.
When it comes to highlighter, I feel like you either love it or you hate it. If you’re on the fence about incorporating one in your makeup routine, this pick might just push you over the edge.
Some highlighters are really intense, making them easy to overdo/overuse (which no one wants!) This one glides on like a liquid, meaning it gets well distributed throughout your face rather than clinging to one spot. Because of this, if you’re new to using highlighter, Glow Glide would be a good one to start with.
You can apply it anywhere you want a little extra shimmer, including your cheekbones, jawline, and nose. As always, it’s best to start with a small amount and add more as needed.
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Liners are another one of the brand’s cult-favorite products—and for good reason. They’re really easy to use (even if you don’t have much experience using lip liners) and they come in the dreamiest shades.
If you’re hoping to achieve fuller, more vibrant looking lips, you can’t really go wrong with this.
A big concern that comes with using any lip products is that the color will transfer, it will get cakey, and it won’t last very long (especially if you’re eating or drinking.) With Lip Cheat, you don’t have to worry about any of those things. The color truly does stay in place and it’s made to be waterproof and last up to six hours—an ideal combo when you’re getting ready for a night out.
I don’t know about you but I personally love to rock a shiny lip. There’s something about lip gloss that makes me feel more put together, and honestly, more chic.
A major bonus to this lip gloss is that it’s subtle enough for everyday wear. The nude-pink color is super flattering and I haven’t found the consistency to be sticky at all. Throw a tube in your purse for a quick and easy way to stay fresh-faced throughout the day!
Tip: Use this lip gloss in conjunction with Lip Cheat for an even more statement-making effect.
If there’s one makeup product that people have lots of opinions about, it’s eyeshadow. Generally speaking, there are cream eyeshadow gals and those who prefer powder. I have found that there’s a time and a place for both, and as long as the actual product is high-quality and long-lasting, I don’t really mind what the texture is.
This Mesmerize Cream Shadow has nearly 1,500 4-star reviews on Sephora, which should really speak for itself. I will say that one benefit to this eyeshadow is that it’s crease-proof. I also adore the champagne color, which has just the right amount of shimmer to it while still being neutral enough for day to day wear. It’s really easy to apply (it glides right onto your skin) so you don’t have to rub or mess with your delicate under-eye area.
Also, considering how long it takes to get through an entire jar (or palette) of eyeshadow, the $35 price point isn’t bad.
For a more robust and vibrant look, I’d suggest going with the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Eyeshadow Palette. These colors are very pigmented but also buildable and easy to blend.
As you can see, the palette comes with four different shades that can offer everything from a neutral daytime look to a more bright and colorful evening vibe. Each shade works flawlessly with one another, and just like the cream shadow above, these are also crease-proof.
Because of the variety this palette offers, you really wouldn’t need any other eyeshadows in your makeup bag—which is an added bonus if you’re hoping to par down on products!
Mascara is another makeup product that is highly individualized. One person might swear by a mascara that does absolutely nothing for someone else.
For me, I always look for mascara that does three things: 1) Doesn’t clump 2) Glides on smoothly and 3) Lasts throughout the day (without dropping little black pieces on my skin.)
Again, I wouldn’t name this as my favorite mascara ever, but it does get the job done without any of those annoying effects, which really is a win in itself.
I do like that the wand is long and that it has a thin brush, which I believe is key to avoiding those dreaded clumps. It also provides you with really great volume and length, so overall, it’s a good choice if you’re interested in trying something different.
