While summer is fully underway, there is still lots of time to indulge in some poolside lounging. From beachy vacations to backyard hangs, swimsuits are an obvious summer staple.
Whether you’re a one-piece gal or you prefer a bikini, there is certainly no shortage of cute options out there. However, I know I personally prefer sourcing my swimwear from brands that are known to hold up well over time. When I’m investing in a swimsuit, I want it to last several summers without stretching, fading, or losing its shape — who else is with me?!
Through lots of trial and error, I have nailed down a variety of brands and stores that are truly worth shopping from. And good news: These pieces are all available in a wide range of styles and fits, and they hit multiple budgets so you can shop without any stress.
Below, you’ll find my favorite swimwear picks for this season. I’m also including a handful of swim accessories, like sunglasses, beach bags, and sun hats, that will help you complete your look!
I will admit that I tend to stick with classic (and mostly neutral) pieces in my day-to-day wardrobe. With that being said, there’s nothing like incorporating a little pop of pattern to spice things up — especially when it comes to swimsuits.
Bold prints and vibrant patterns can add a fun and visually interesting touch to your pool day look. Style them with simple pieces, like a white sarong or straw hat, to balance things out and keep your outfit from looking too “busy.”
If you really want to get the most long-term wear from a swimsuit, opting for a solid color is a no-brainer. Two of the most classic choices? All white or all black. There’s something about both of these options that feels highly classic, elevated, and mature.
Black and white swimwear also has the added perk of going with everything. This means you can really jazz things up and show off some personality with your cover-ups or beach accessories. Plus, they are two universally flattering colors that look timeless.
On the opposite side of things, if you’re not afraid of a little bit of color, summer offers the perfect time to lean into that. Bright swimwear can make you stand out in the best way — and it shows that you have the confidence to totally rock what you’re wearing (and who doesn’t love that?!)
Going with a classic red bikini is a good way to test the waters out, but if you’re already all in, try pastel greens, aqua blues, or blush-colored pinks.
Again, I’d recommend pairing more streamlined cover-ups and accessories with brighter and more bold swimsuits. Some options: White linen shorts and a baseball cap, a black dress and sunglasses, or denim shorts and a white button-down.
Shopping on a budget? These picks are for you. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the swimwear selection from more affordable retailers, like Walmart and Target. While these finds don’t break the bank, they also don’t lack style or quality.
Even if you don’t typically shop from either of those retailers, trust me when I say that these are worth testing out. Let this be your reminder that you really don’t have to spend a lot to source cute things!
