Rhode Review: Is This Cult-Favorite Brand Worth the Hype?

There’s one brand that shows up in my makeup bag and bathroom counter lineup so often, I knew I had to write about it for all of you: Rhode. As one of the most iconic brands (that’s now at Sephora), I thought I’d share the exact products that have won me over throughout the last few years. 

The brand was founded by none other than Hailey Bieber. As a consistent trend-setter, it doesn’t surprise me that her beauty line has a number of holy grail picks. She has created everything necessary for embracing her signature glazed donut skin, glossed neutral pout, and then some. 

Rhode also excels at leveling up its formulas and takes the importance of caring for your skin more seriously. You’ll find skincare-grade ingredients in its makeup, and the brand has its own range of skincare that prioritizes hydration, protection, and cleaner ingredients (all important details in my opinion!)

Below, you’ll find my thoughts on some of Rhode’s best products so you can determine whether or not they’re ideal for your own routine. Spoiler alert: They’re all pretty incredible.

Glazing Milk Ceramide Facial Essence

Meet one of my personal holy grail faves. The Glazing Milk Ceramide Facial Essence is one beauty item I swear by for creating the perfect base before I apply makeup. There’s a reason it went viral, and after trying it and falling in love, it’s absolutely worth the hype.

The milky texture gives you a glow before any foundation or highlighter even touches your skin. It’s full of ceramides, which not only moisturize, but protect your skin barrier too. You can think of it as another shield for your face (outside of SPF). 

Another perk is that it works for all skin types, whether you’re struggling with serious dryness or occasional oil patches, or a little redness. This is definitely one that’ll always make the cut when you’re packing for a trip.

Peptide Lip Shape Contouring Lip Shaper

Whether you like an overlined lip or a perfectly blended pout, a lip liner is essential. Rhode nailed it with this one. The thicker shape of the pencil makes it easy to hold and control when you’re applying it, so you’ll get a perfectly precise line.

This isn’t like the old lip liners of decades past either. You won’t be left with dried-out lips and a sad pucker. If anything, this creamy formula actually boosts moisture and keeps your lips hydrated and softer through hours of wear.

It’s meant for giving your lips more definition, enhancing what you already have. You’ll find it comes in 11 neutrals, making it easy to match one with your skin tone or the usual shade of lipstick or gloss you wear. This one is always in my handbag!

Peptide Lip Tint Nourishing Glaze

If you need something to wear with the aforementioned lip contouring stick—or a formula to replace your go-to lip balm on no-makeup days, this is the one. If I could put one in every bag I have I would! 

What I love so much about this specific tint is that it’s high shine but not sticky. It’s also not a gloss that’ll fade minutes after you swipe it on. It stays on for hours, and it’s just the right amount of color for your lips, without bordering on lipstick or stain. Anyone with dry lips will also appreciate how moisturizing the combo of peptides, shea butter, and vitamin E is.

My go-to is Toast, a shade that mixes taupe and rose for a subtle neutral that looks good no matter what makeup you’re wearing (or not) and whatever outfit you pick.

Pocket Blush Buildable Hydrating Cream Blush

Finding a good blush isn’t easy. They can be too bright or the texture might feel too dry or powdery. Rhode’s Pocket Blush is the answer if you haven’t found your perfect one yet. It’s creamy and glides on so easily. 

The satin finish is a happy medium between shinier and matte formulas, so it doesn’t look greasy or powdery once it’s applied. All of the shades are gorgeous, whether you like a flushed pink or bronze-tinged glow. 

One swipe is pretty sheer, but it’s buildable, so you can create exactly the level of blush that matches your usual makeup. Even though it’s creamy, you’ll find it’s long-lasting, especially if you add a setting spray on top.

Barrier Restore Cream Comforting Daily Moisturizer

Your skin barrier is the first layer of protection you have, so it’s important to care for it since it puts up with a lot! 

The Barrier Restore Cream from Rhode is everything you could ever want in a moisturizer. Although it feels rich, it soaks in quickly. It’s a convenient blend, as many people with dry skin know the frustration of trying to find a moisturizer. So many feel thick and greasy, and others aren’t quite potent enough to get rid of dull skin, tightness, and dryness. This ticks all the boxes. It has anti-aging super ingredients (like peptides), as well as super nourishing shea butter and hyaluronic acid. 

The moisturizer also comes in a mini size, which is perfect for traveling. This way you can give your skin plenty of protection, whether you’re sitting in the ultra-dry cabin of a plane or in need of a pick-me-up after a stressful few hours on the road.
