I’m currently on a little getaway in Scottsdale and have been soaking up all the sun I can get. After a long and cold Indianapolis winter, it’s safe to say I’m thrilled to feel some warm temps again. Because this is my first time visiting this desert town, I honestly wasn’t quite sure what to pack. Swimsuits, cover-ups, and dresses were clear “must pack” items, but one piece that I’m so glad I tossed into my suitcase is linen shorts.

Linen shorts are an obvious go-to for the spring and summer season, but after wearing them throughout this trip, I’ve realized just how versatile they really are. They offer an effortless look (while providing ultimate comfort) and they can be worn for just about any occasion, depending on what you style them with.

My love for cardigans runs deep because I truly feel like they complement every type of look. Because I went with a pair of white shorts, I wanted to give the top of my outfit a dose of color. The combo of neutral bottoms with a bright sweater and tank made just the statement I was looking for.

If you tend to be more of a neutral girlie (I’m with you), you could always opt for a white tank underneath the cardigan. Oh, and I can’t forget about the accessories. I thought gold would be a chic choice here, so I added this leather belt and these comfortable heels.

Linen Shorts and a Denim Jacket

For those in-between weather days, layer your linen short outfit with a denim jacket. I’d be surprised if you didn’t already have one on hand, which makes this look so easy to pull together.

I have been getting lots of questions about this puff sleeve blouse, which I know will look adorable with so many of my summer staples. It’s lightweight and doesn’t stick to your skin—a crucial factor to consider when dressing for warm weather.

Pair the blouse of your choice with white linen shorts and some nude heels for a sophisticated look. You could wear this for a date night or for brunch with the girls. Just add a belt, a fun handbag, and some sunglasses and you’ll be set!
