If there’s one fall and winter staple that you can’t go wrong with, it’s a puffer jacket. Investing in a quality puffer to take you from cool and crisp mornings to snowy and windy nights is honestly just practical, but it can be a stylish move too.
More than just necessary in unfavorable weather, puffer jackets can add a fun and cool vibe to pretty much any outfit. You can throw one on when you’re headed out the front door and instantly spruce up your overall look (while ensuring you stay warm!)
However, knowing how to style a puffer jacket can feel tricky if you’re going for a sophisticated and feminine look. While these jackets are majorly on-trend right now, if you want to level up your look for a variety of occasions, you’re in the right spot.
Here, I’m sharing four simple puffer jacket outfits that you can wear to grab dinner, run errands, or meet with friends. As you’ll see, the options are truly endless!
Each of these looks were styled with the Moncler Short Down Jacket, which I bought during my latest trip to Paris. While it’s certainly an investment, it’s one that I think is totally worth the splurge. It’s a timeless staple that I know will last for a lifetime.
Another perk is that it’s lightweight (despite being super warm) so it’s easy to roll up and travel with. This is a big perk for those who are frequently on the go throughout the winter months.
If this specific jacket isn’t the right pick for you, no worries — I’m sharing a handful of options at different price points at the end of this blog post.
p.s. I recently put together this video which walks you through exactly how I styled each of these looks!

It doesn’t get much more classic than a pair of jeans, a white t-shirt (this one is really great quality), and ankle booties. Take things up a notch by adding in a leather belt, which you can match to the boots of your choice or your puffer jacket.
I added a pair of aviator sunglasses, dainty earrings, and my bright Bottega Veneta purse to finish things off.
Also, going with western style boots adds so much personality to this outfit, so don’t be afraid to branch out a bit when it comes to your shoe collection.
Another wardrobe staple that pairs perfectly with just about anything? A simple bodysuit. If you’re on the hunt for one that’s high quality, I’ve been impressed with this one from Skims.
For a date night-ready look, I paired the bodysuit with a silky slip skirt and some slingback heels. Then, to accommodate the cool weather, I threw on my puffer coat. This outfit is proof that wearing a puffer jacket shouldn’t stop you from getting dressed up — happy hour here you come.
To achieve a comfy yet pulled together look, I styled my go-to trousers with a cashmere sweater. Pro tip: Keeping everything monochromatic will give things a more polished feel.
I also added a matching beanie and scarf to ensure I was extra cozy — this is ideal for a cold night out or a snowy day filled with errands.
For shoes, I went with these dad-style Nike sneakers, which are a good option if you need to be on your feet all day. You could easily swap these out with any type of white sneaker you have in your closet.
If you love to wear black leggings but want to give off a more sophisticated vibe, these pull-on ponte pants from Spanx are the next best thing. They are so easy to style because they look chic with so many other pieces.
This outfit could be worn for so many occasions and is what I’d consider to be the ideal fall and winter uniform. It’s comfortable, easy to mix up by swapping out the t-shirt, and can easily transition from day to night. Plus, the tall boots provide your legs with some extra warmth (an added bonus!)
