5 Tips for Throwing a Summer Party

Summer is the time for fun, whether you’re vacationing, taking a long weekend, enjoying the long summer nights, or picking up new summer hobbies. Summer is also a time when there are a lot of parties going on! Of course, summer parties are always so much fun, but let’s be honest, a ton of work. If you’re hosting a party (or a few) this season, we put together a few tips for throwing and hosting a summer party so you can stress less and enjoy more. Read on for our top tips!

Tip #1: Give Your Guests Something to Do

Chatting with friends and enjoying each other’s company is always great, but after a few hours, it can get a little boring. Adding an activity will keep your guests engaged, entertained, and having a blast! We love setting up a game or a dance floor to keep everyone moving. If your party is small enough and a bartender is unnecessary, set up a self-serve station where people can pour and enjoy… without you having to do anything 😉.

Tip #2: Music Matters

Playing music sets the overall vibe of the party and makes the setting feel complete. Have you ever been to a party with no music and something feels missing? Don’t forget this crucial step! We love creating a playlist in advance or finding one so all you have to do on the day of the summer party is connect to a speaker. Make sure to have a good mix of music!

Tip #3: Don’t Make it too Complicated

Try and eliminate things that will cause you unnecessary stress. Keeping things simple and not overthinking everything is key! No one will notice if a spot in your kitchen is a little cluttered or the patio didn’t get completely swept down. The most important thing is bringing people you love together for a little fun!

Tip #4: Put the Food Where You Want Everyone to Be

If all of the food is in the kitchen, everyone will be in the kitchen! People gather where the food and drinks are, so stick them in the spot you are wanting and planning for everyone to be. If you do want to keep food in the kitchen, set up tables in a different location so people can fill their plates and move from the kitchen to tables.

Tip #5: Don’t Forget to Actually Enjoy It

When you’re the host, it’s so easy to stay busy! Our more important tip is to truly soak in and enjoy the event you put together. If you’re someone who finds themselves not taking a second to relax and enjoy, enlist some help so you don’t have to do everything. Also, remember that not everything will be perfect and that’s okay! You want to be able to look back fondly on the event, so have fun and enjoy it!
